In 2025, Hayden will be performing in:
A student at Auckland Grammar School, Hayden Chiu began violin studies with Elena Abramova and currently learns from Stephen Larsen and Professor Robin Wilson.
Hayden performed at Carnegie Hall (2019) at age 8 and attended King’s School on a John Henley music scholarship. His chamber and orchestra experiences include the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, where he became Associate Concertmaster in 2023. Hayden was the winner of the NZ National Strings Competition (including Best Interpretation of a NZ Work) in 2024 and is a senior category semi-finalist of the Ysaye International Music Competition 2025. He has performed in Italy with Accademia d’Archi Arrigoni during the Piccolo Violino Magico Young Violinist Competition, and as an NZSO Emerging Artist (2024). He has also been invited as concerto soloist for the Devonport Chamber Orchestra’s 2024 and 2025 seasons.
